The more you know, the more it helps! Today’s Delicious Travel Recipe Pincake discusses the difference between “transit” and “transfer” flight.

Travel Tip Magazine: Transit vs Transfer

Most travelers confuse transit and transfer flights when passing through more than one city. They both require change in flight (as in different flight number), but due to lack of precise understanding people have trouble booking tickets. The more you know, the more it helps! Today’s Delicious Travel Recipe Pincake discusses the difference between “transit” and “transfer” flight.

Understanding Transit and Transfer

Unless a direct flight, it is common to fly through at least one city from either the original flight you boarded or to another flight at different airport.

When you take the same aircraft you were on to get to the next transfer airport, it is called “transit.” On the other hand, when you use separate aircraft or airline to get to your next transfer destination, it is called “transfer.”

Difference between the two

In a nut shell, both transfer and transit require intermediate stops, but depending on the next flight (aircraft or airline) become either of one. Transit passengers use the same airline all along, and stop at intermediate destination for 1-2 hours for cleaning or fueling and board on the same aircraft to get to the final destination.

Transfer passengers, however, take separate aircraft or even airline and boarding time may differ depending on the airline.

Pros and Cons of Transit

Pros: Transit only requires resting at an intermediate point, and thus is relaxing for long distance flights. Waiting time may differ from airline to airline, but you may leave your luggage instead of carrying it around. If the gate number is different, check the boarding pass given out for the new gate number and boarding time.

Cons: During transit, it is easy to have your valuables stolen, so make sure to carry them with you when getting off the plane. Most transits happen in American or European airlines and when waiting time is long, some airlines provide transit hotels.

Pros and Cons of Transfer

For transfer flights be wary of boarding time when utilizing airline or aircraft at intermediate stop. For instance, if you have enough time, you may enjoy the intermediate city through stopover. If you are in a rush, take about two hours till your next flight. Transfer flights also often provide meals or lounge voucher depending on airline and waiting time.

Transfer is a tad cumbersome in a sense that you must check in again. Also, gate number is also subject to change, so make sure to frequently check the update. Your luggage will be transferred automatically, but due to hazard of misplacement, make sure to carry the valuables with you. But depending on the airport, carry-on regulations may differ and have your valuables taken.

PINCAKE TIPS :When using a transfer flight, make sure to ask about the transfer at check in. If this is your first transfer/transit, don’t panic and ask for help at intermediate stop. Blindly following other passengers may cause issues with visa.

If you have been procrastinating hitting the road blaming lack of money or time, here are some hot places that will get you out of bed immediately.

Traveler’s Guide 101: Popular Travel Destinations.

Which countries do people visit the most? Where are some of the least popular ones? The definition of satisfying travel may differ depending on traveler’s tastes or interests.

If you have been procrastinating hitting the road blaming lack of money or time, here are some hot places that will get you out of bed immediately.

All Time Must-visits .

The place turns ordinary cuisines into culinary arts attracting connoisseurs. Not to mention, wine, too. You guessed it: France ranked the most visited places by tourists for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013. As seen in the movie “Is Paris Burning” (1966 film), even soldiers disobeyed Hitler’s orders in order to protect France’s rich history and arts France, indeed, a must visit place before you die.
France
If France is the most tourist-visited place, the U.S. ranks the number one visited place by foreigners. America reclaims its first place with its spectacular metropolises as well as its sublime nature like the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls. Longitudinal road trips by rent car, Grayhound for frugal backpackers, and Megabus—depending on your budget there are millions ways to explore the country.

The competitive third and fourth places go to Spain and China, respectively. Both countries boast distinctive characteristics and charms in every city. Spain exudes unique architectural style and bold colors unlike the rest of Europe, and the more you learn, the more attractive is China. The two countries’ fierce competition for the second place is much expected.

For Solo-trip Lovers.

Some appealing countries are greatly underestimated by its number of visitors. If you’d rather stay at tourist-free destinations to enjoy your own tranquility, here are some of the countries to keep an eye on.

An island nation Kiribati gained its reputation first as a transferring destination to Hawaii. Despite its miniature size of 33 islets and a population of 1,000,000, every year Kiribari is bustling with people to see the very first sunset in the world. Unfortunately, however, the island is in danger of submerging under water due to global climate change saddening many travelers.
Kiribati
Next is a less known, less crowded European island with, to be honest, a minor defect of not-exactly-the-world-class-transportation-system. Ranked at the bottom quartile for its number of tourists, this country speaks German despite its non-tangential geographical location, and not too crowded for a European country. The name of the country is Liechtenstein. Veteran travelers also wonder of substantial lack of tourists, but located on highlands of the Alps, Liechtenstein doesn’t fall behind nearby European countries.

Other less populous yet perfect for peaceful solo trip attractions include Jakarta of Indonesia, Timor-Leste located in north of Australia, Palau in the west Pacific Ocean, Dominica of the Caribbean sea, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the West Indies.

How do you avoid long queues and upgrade the quality of your trip? Delicious Travel Recipe Pincake brought a few pro tips collected by veteran travelers and airline staffs.

Travel Tip Travel Dictionary– You Know It or You Don’t.

Summer time has begun. Travelers boarding in and out of the country are making a long queue. As summer is the busiest peak time of the year, airports and other vacation places are inundated with people, wasting more time than necessary waiting in lines. How do you avoid long queues and upgrade the quality of your trip? Delicious Travel Recipe Pincake brought a few pro tips collected by veteran travelers and airline staffs.

1. The fastest and easiest check in via mobile.

Crowded airports in summer aren’t exactly the place to be. From minimum 10 minutes to over an hour, waiting lines can get ridiculous. If you want to reduce your waiting time at the airport, devote 5 more minutes before the departure.

Most airlines provide online and mobile check-in apps to ameliorate boarding procedure. Services may differ from airlines to airlines, but with laptop or smartphone check in 3 hours prior to boarding. Not only you can check-in early without waiting, but choose a seat you prefer. There are also self-services for check-in at the airport.

2. Utilizeing Airport Buses and Seat Selection Service.

Most travelers prefer wider and more comfortable seats. But there are only limited “VIP seats.” Especially, if you are aiming for the emergency exit seats, aisles seats, and front seats, the competition intensifies.

Pro tip to get a popular VIP seat: If you take airport terminals, where check-in starts a little early than at the airport, the likelihood of getting an emergency exit seat slightly increases. Also, if you ask for aisles or front seats during reservation, they will give you one. If you are traveling with a child or with family, utilizing airport terminal will ease your travels by getting you more comfortable seats.

3. Customized In-flight Meals.

From kids menu for children, vegetarian menu for vegetarians to menus for specific religious people, if you request a special meal 24 hours prior to departure, you can enjoy a customized meal in the plane. One thing to keep in mind is that menu and ordering time may differ by airlines. You should also eat moderately according to local time of the destination you’re headed to.

PINCAKE TIPS : Moreover, there are snacks given during late night flights, in-flight online service, medical service, etc that you can take advantages of. There’s nothing to be shameful for not knowing these tips. Your flight ticket includes various service fees, so if anything bugs you during the flight, don’t hesitate to talk to flight attendants.
