Siria ranked the most dangerous place, scoring 162th on GPI. Next came the Middle East countries like Sudan and Iraq unceasing of civil wars and conflict. Some Asian countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and North Korea made it to the list, as well as Russia among Eurasian countries.

Increasingly popular places such as Myanmar, India, and Africa countries (Ethiopia, Yemen, Egypt, Zimbabwe) are not as hazardous, but still requires special surveillance as they ranked 120~140th of GPI.

Ireland ranked number one as the most peaceful country in the world. Other European countries such as Denmark, Austria, Swiss, and Finland also followed Ireland on the list. Canada (rank 8th) was one of the safest countries in North America, New Zealand (4th) in Oceania, and Japan (8th) in Asia.

The safest continent award went to Europe. With the exception of Ukraine (141th) on war with Russia, 14 of twenty European nations were selected as safe countries making Europe the safest continent of all.

Other countries with relatively high GPI included Czech Republic, Sweden, Ireland, Slovenia, Australia, Bhutan, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Qatar, Poland, Singapore, Croatia, Spain, Taiwan, and other eighteen countries ranked the upper quartile.
